How to Get Started with Boxing in Bonita Springs: A Beginner’s Guide

Updated: Oct 5

Thinking about trying boxing but not sure where to start? You’re not alone. More and more people in Bonita Springs, Naples, and Estero are discovering that boxing is one of the best workouts for fitness, confidence, and stress relief — and you don’t have to be a fighter to get started.

At Corner to Corner Boxing Gym, we train members of all ages and levels (literally 8 to 80). Here’s how to take your first step into the sport:

1. Start with the Basics

Every boxer begins with fundamentals — stance, footwork, and how to throw a proper jab. Don’t worry if you’ve never put on gloves before. Coach Jody & Coach Cal meet you where you are and guide you step by step.

2. Focus on Fitness, Not Fighting

Most beginners join for fitness, not competition. Boxing builds endurance, strength, and mobility while torching calories. You’ll leave every session stronger and more confident.

3. Train in the Right Environment

Big gyms can be intimidating. At Corner to Corner, memberships are capped at 50 people total, so you’ll always get hands-on coaching from Coach Jody Sheeley (25+ years of experience). No egos, just effort and community.

4. Try an Intro Session

The best way to see if boxing is for you is to step in and try it. Our intro sessions are designed to help you get comfortable with the gym, the gear, and the flow of training.

🥊 Ready to start? Whether you want to build strength, sharpen your skills, or just find a workout that actually excites you, we’d love to welcome you to the Corner.
